1917 - Dan

I recently watched the movie 1917. I was flying back from Los Angeles on a five-hour flight, and I had no summer reading left and I wasn't specifically tired, so I chose to watch a movie from the screens that are in front of every seat. I'm typically a comedy movie type of guy, but when I was scrolling through the "new releases" 1917 caught my eye. I remembered having watched the Oscars and seeing that 1917 was nominated for almost every major award, so it had to be good right?  I decided to watch it.

Lemme just start by saying that it's an incredible movie. It's hard to talk about it without spoiling, but the movie is really action-packed and suspenseful, while at the same time very emotional. From Blake and Schofield's quickly growing relationship to the moments right before battle, 1917 will give you a whole bunch of emotions all at once. One of the most impressive features about the movie - if not THE most impressive - is the fact that almost the whole movie is shot in one shot. That is such a crazy thing to think about, imagine being the actors and having one scene last over an hour. Imagine if you mess up halfway through lol.

1917 also involves some beautiful scenery. They show fields of France, cities, and churches. After watching the movie, I could understand why it received the "hype" it did, and why it was so highly praised. Overall, I'm glad I watched it and I recommend everyone to watch it, and especially if you're a history fiend then I recommend it even more.
