Dori Baron, Week 3 - Opinions Changing with the Seasons

Hi everyone! With the season of autumn beginning this Tuesday, on the 22nd of September, I felt the need to bring up an ongoing dilemma I’ve had my whole life: What my favorite season is. Every year it changes, and I am never able to settle on just one. Last year in 2019, I deemed summer as my favorite, probably due to it being my most enjoyable summer vacation of all time. After all, I was able to travel to four different places in the world (London, Paris, Brussels, and New York) and spend so much time with family members and friends! I really loved it, and I noticed that in those few months, I was the most stress-free and happy I had been that whole year.
However, this past year in 2020, it is safe to say that I was not able to do any of those fun activities during the summer due to the pandemic. Summer was still pleasant, thanks to the existence of virtual university summer programs, but it was not exactly as exciting and worry-free as the previous summer. Looking back to the spring, because Covid-19 began spreading, any plans to get together with all my relatives and friends for Passover or for my birthday also had to be canceled. Although it was disappointing, I don’t want to come off as if I’m complaining a lot; I’m honestly just very grateful that my family and I are safe and healthy with all the crazy events that are occurring in the world now.
Anyways, as I try to settle on a conclusion to this dilemma, I would have to guess that either fall or winter will be my favorite season this year. Because of the whole comfy, pumpkin spice aesthetic, as well as celebrating a bunch of the Jewish holidays, I've always had a soft spot for autumn. Winter is also a great season because of the warm holiday spirit that comes with Chanukah (or Christmas if you celebrate that too!), and it finally starts to cool down here in Florida a little bit. This is always a big treat for me since I am not a fan of it constantly being hot and humid 24/7 (but I guess what else are you supposed to expect down here?). That’s my opinion on this matter for right now, though with how this year has been going so far, we’ll see if this even holds true. Let me know in the comment section below what your favorite season is or if you also have trouble deciding like me!

  1. My favorite season would have to be winter for two reasons. One, because it is my birthday during the winter season, and two, because we have winter break during this time, which is usually a lot of fun. Hopefully we can still have a semi-normal winter break this year.

  2. Hi Dori! I agree with you that it's hard to pick a favorite season. After years of debating with myself, I've decided that I just love the vibes that come with the fall, but I'll always have a soft spot for winter. I also agree that summer brings the absolute worst weather, and we seem to constantly have it. Although the freedom and plans are fun, the vibes just aren't the same as fall or winter.

  3. My favorite season in the world is autumn, but in Florida it would have to be winter. That is the only time the temperatures get below 70! There are definitely positives and negatives to every season, though.
