Hunter David Week 2 Blog - Cobra Kai Review

Both season 1 and 2 of Netflix’s show Cobra Kai is an amazing show, and I highly recommend it to everyone. The show is based on the famous Karate Kid movies and it takes place in the present. The show is about thirty-four years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, where nearly poor handyman Johnny Lawrence seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai dojo, which reignites his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso, who is now the owner of a successful car dealership. Around this time, Johnny rescues a high school boy named Miguel from bullies, who recently moved to the city. After doing so, he is inspired to restart the notorious Cobra Kai dojo and take in Miguel as his first student. However, this causes to Johnny restart his old rivalry with Daniel LaRousso, who is happily married but is missing an essential balance in life since the death of his movie mentor, Mr. Miyagi. Meanwhile, Miguel and his friends, who he gets to join Johnny’s reopened dojo, are seemingly “poisoned” by Cobra Kai's bad philosophy. Also, Daniel's daughter, Samantha, finds herself in the middle of this conflict amidst false friends who join her father’s enemies dojo, and Johnny's son, Robby, finds himself going under Daniel's wing because his father didn’t take care of him as a kid. Throughout the first two seasons, there are many twists and turns, as friends change sides and new characters are introduced. In my honest opinion, the second season of the show might be even better than the first one. If you were in a family situation similar to this, how do you think you would handle it?

  1. What's up Hunter! I was really excited for this netflix series to see how these guys turned out years later, but I was a little let down. While it was a cool idea, I still beleive all the original Karate kid movies were better than this new series. Also I prefer a movie over a show series, so I don't think this was better. Which one do you prefer?

  2. Hi Hunter. I can't even imagine being in a family like this. I especially don't think I would be able to be in Samantha's position. It is very annoying to be in the middle of something that you aren't even a part of.
