Lauren Hodes- Week 3- Changing my sleep schedule

Usually on every morning that I have online school, I wake up at 8:20 with just enough time to put on new clothes, brush my teeth, and brush my hair. I am very rushed and barely have enough time to wake up. I run to the area I do my school in and am basically sleeping for the first zoom period. I cut school so close with waking up 10 minutes before. This leaves me with the only option of working out in the afternoon around 4. But recently I have decided to change that. This past week I have woken up every morning at  7. I decided to make this time shift after realizing how tired I have been during my workouts. I have been getting headaches and don’t run for as long as usual. My new schedule helps that a lot. I force myself to wake up early and run in the morning because I think of how good I will feel afterwards. My new schedule leaves me with enough time to workout from 7:10 to 8. Then I jump in the shower and get changed/ready from 8 to 8:30. This made me more energized and less sleepy during classes. I felt accomplished rather than just rolling out of bed. In a busy schedule, after I am done with school, I don’t need to worry about working out. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Even if you aren’t a morning person like me, creating good habits can always be achieved. Leave in the comments below a positive habit that you wish to have or a bad habit that you want to stop!

  1. Hi Lauren, so I love waking up early, and I am so glad that you have altered your sleep schedule. My internal alarm wakes me up at almost exactly 7 everyday, and I HAVE to make my bed. I have no idea why, but I just cant resume my day without making my bed. I think waking up early and going to bed at a reasonable time really has a major impact on your everyday life whether you notice or not.

  2. Hi Lauren! I wish I had that type of commitment, I guess everyone does but I am just not motivated enough. I would also like to wake up early and be put together before school starts, and I think I will try. You have such a nice put together lifestyle which I've seen in school, as well as through this post. I think it would be safe to say that I strive to have a routine everyday, rather than rushing to class after I barely just woke up.

  3. Hey Lauren! I personally hate waking up early for school, and have been thinking about what I should do to start off my day on a better note. This seems like a great idea, so maybe I'll give it a try if I can wake up that early. I want to try going to sleep earlier so that I can wake up fresh in the morning!

  4. This is amazing! I'm so proud ofyou for recognizing the necessary change and making it! I struggle to get out of bed in the morning, and I don't think I could make it before the 6:15 I currently get up, but it is definitely a huge step to be able to get exercise in before starting your day. That energy helps to carry you. Nice work!
