Monday Night Football Review Zev Englander Blog 4

Two months ago football seemed like it was in serious jeopardy. Coaches and players were testing positive for COVID-19, training facilities were closing, and the NFLPA decided there would be no preseason games. Yet here we are, three weeks into the season with every scheduled NFL game in the books. When the schedules for every team were released, every football fan marked their calendar for Monday September 28th, when former Pete Rozelle trophy winner Patrick Mahomes and his reigning super bowl winning team, the Cheifs, would face off against reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Going into 2020, Mahomes and Lamar were their own tier of football players and were the two undisputed best quarterbacks going into the 2020 season. As expected, both teams boasted undefeated records heading into the game. The game was electrifying because both the offenses score a ton of points, and who doesn't love an NFL shootout on primetime football? The Ravens got off to a good start, scoring points on their first drive and later returning a kickoff for a touchdown, however, Patrick Mahomes was too much for the Ravens usually elite defensive unit, and he accounted for four touchdowns and 260 yards in only the first half. The Ravens played well in the second half, but Lamar could not handle the big stage and had one of the worst performances of his career against a middle of the pack Cheifs defense. Although the game was never close, both teams lived up to the hype and America got a glimpse of what a very likely playoff matchup will be later this year. Patrick Mahomes won this round, but who do you think is ultimately the better QB? Are there any other G.O.A.T debates you have opinions on?
