If you haven't watched Black Mirror yet, I strongly suggest you do. Black Mirror is a series of one hour episodes (on Netflix), and each one has no correlation to one another. Don't get me wrong, some are god awful, but others are amazing. Each episode is kind of like a look into a futuristic world. One of my personal favorites is called nosedive. This episode is based on a world where people are rated. Each person has a rating between 1-5, similar to a yahoo review, just with people. Your whole life is pretty much based on that number, friends, family, your job, education, etc. The main character, Lacie, is trying to make her way through a status-obsessed nightmare. She is constantly altering her personality to make sure people like her, and give her a five-star rating. However, life is not all unicorns and rainbows, so soon enough the “human” in her shows. Just like a normal human, we have emotions other than being happy, we get angry, sad, and irritated. Unfortunately, rude behavior is not accepted in this alternate world. As Lacie begins to show her true emotions, people start to rate her down. Once your rating falls, you fall with it. With a low rating, you can’t buy a house, a car, and people won't accept you because of your 2.3 rating. I won't spoil the rest because I highly suggest you watch this episode, but I wanted to share why this episode really stands out to me. I feel that there is some scary truth behind this episode. Our world today could easily become this way, and in a sense it already is. In terms of school, we have a GPA system almost exactly the same. We have that same domino effect. In school, your GPA is on a 0-4 scale, and with a poor GPA you won't be accepted into colleges, without going to college you can't get a job, without a job you won't be able to afford a house, and once again you will fall in society. Although it's just a tv show, all of the episodes give a hint into what our world has the potential to become. I think people should be accepted for who they are, no number should define you whether in school or out.
I attached a video explaining the episode below.

This seems like a very interesting show, and it is maybe something I may want to watch in the future. There is so much that I watch that I never have time to see other peoples' recommendations.
