College Visits

Romi Avidor Week 8 10/26/20 Hi again! Today we had our first college meeting. Of course, many rules and regulations are different now due to Covid. One of the topics that were discussed during the meeting was being able to visit colleges that you can see yourself attending. This was one of the big things I personally have been waiting for. I always wanted to go and be able to visit these colleges that I am interested in with my mom. Last year, in march, we planned on going to New York and visiting NYU. I was so excited to visit NYU because it is a school I am looking into and I heard so many great things about. Sadly, Covid started and there was a big risk of us going to New York because if we came back we would need to quarantine and at the time we didn’t know how serious this was. We did not end up going which made me really upset because I was looking forward to it. Now, it is my turn to start the college search and most campuses are closed for tours. They only offer virtual tours which is not the same experience as being there. Being able to see the college you want to attend and experience what it is like to be there is different then seeing it over a facetime call. How are you supposed to know that you are comfortable there. You can easily think that it is the college for you when in reality maybe it is not. I am wondering if we will be able to visit colleges in the future or will we just have to assume that we like the area and can see ourselves living there. Luckily last January, I was able to do a college tour with my sister and parents at UM which is my number one choice. By being able to walk around and to see what it is like to live there, I am able to see how comfortable I would be going to school there. I hope that in the near future we will be able to visit colleges and experience what our college life will be like. What colleges do you want to visit? I inserted a link as to why college visits are important. https://www.ivywise.com/blog/how-important-are-college-visits/

  1. Hi Romi,
I also wish we could visit colleges because it is hard to know where to apply. Luckily I have seen UF and UM because of my brothers.

  2. Hi Romi I completely agree with you that it sucks we can't visit colleges. Like you said it's important to be able to see the school you choose before you even apply, so it sucks we can't do that.
