Eden Richman Week 7 - I Fell on Concrete Today

I decided to ride my bike today. I went outside, breathed the fresh morning air, and got on my bike. Then as I was riding the tires were making an awful squeaking noise. I looked down, and to my astonishment, my tires were flat. I was surprised because I have not used my bike for months and the last time I rode it the tires were fully inflated. I also was not wearing proper footwear, and you know what they say "always were proper footwear when you are riding a bike." I decided to go back to pump my tires and put on some sneakers. This is where I made a grave mistake. You see, they say to wear proper footwear while riding a bike, but I forgot that I should also remember to wear sneakers while running. I left my bike outside and ran to get sneakers from inside. Mind you that this is the first time I ran through the grass in months. I did not just run I frolicked, I was so distracted by the bliss I felt that I didn't realize I stepped onto the concrete in front of my back door. This is where my life flashed before my eyes, I slipped on the concrete which was wet from the rain the night before. "This is it," I thought "this is where I break my tailbone." My legs flung up in the air, and within a second I went from being a carefree child to a teenage girl who just fell on her butt. This transition was not appreciated by me, or my tailbone. I lay there for a second, contemplating life. No one even saw me fall, I couldn't even get sympathy from another human at the time I needed it most.

*dramatization*

I did not ride my bike today, and I don't know when I will ride my bike again. Maybe I will try to run around in the grass. I tried to make this story very dramatic and entertaining, did I do a good job? have you ever slipped and fell on your back?

  1. Hey Eden, you did such a good job making this story dramatic. I feel like this is good enough to be your college essay (which means I liked it). I once broke my collarbone while snowboard in Colorado, and I can say for a fact that it hurt a lot. I hope your wounds heal soon!

  2. This story was so fun to read, but sounds painful. One day when I was riding my RipStick, I ran into a stone and that caused me to fling forward and fall in the middle of the street. In this case, I wish there was nobody around like in your situation. There was a car that watched me fall and it was very embarrassing. I had scraped my hands and knee and was bleeding, but I had to act like I was fine since the car just stopped and stared at me. Anyways, thanks for sharing your concrete experience :)

  3. Eden,
wow amazing story! For the story you were telling us it was so perfectly written. It was so funny and the language you used was incredible. Yes, actually I was in Israel and I fell really badly on my arm and butt. I slipped on stairs. It was pretty bad but really embarrassing. Thank you for making your story interesting!

  4. Eden, this is the best story ever. I also had a traumatizing experience like this this weekend (read about it in my blog). It sounds like it hurt a lot! I don't really remember any occurrences of where I slipped and fell on my butt, but I definitely have. One time I fell on the road while playing frisbee when I was like 6, and I slid when I fell. My stomach was soooo scratched up. yay!
