Ladies and gentlemen of the 11th grade AP Lang class, the day we’ve been looking forward to since my week 4 blog, has finally come: today...the “Golden” music video finally dropped. Let me tell you a brief explanation of how today and the past couple of days have gone. If you’d like a recap, go read my other blog post. On Tuesday, the 20th, his website, doyouknowwhoyouare.com, changed its theme to Golden, with a yellow background and giving you a note that says “Dear ___, You are Golden. Love, H.” (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you are free to do your own research.) To keep this short, I won’t mention the other boring things that happened. On the 25th, a 15-second video dropped, which we’d soon find out was the beginning of the music video, of his silhouette running through a tunnel before a black screen popped up saying “GOLDEN. OCTOBER 26.” The main issue here was usually with the other videos, it told us what time the music video would be dropping, this one did not. Romy and I decided to wait to watch it together, so I went to sleep pretty early because I doubted it’d come out at midnight and I’d have to wait to watch it anyway. I woke up this morning feeling very excited, but had no idea what to expect. I was a little anxious about it dropping during school because I had a very busy day and wouldn't have time to watch it before school ended. At 10 am, HSHQ tweeted a GORGEOUS unseen picture of Harry captioned “GOLDEN. 2 HOURS.” (are you sensing a theme here?) Now, no hate to Mr. Bowman, but we were taking a test and he usually doesn’t let us leave even a minute early, even if we’ve already finished. I had the premiere open and ready and as soon as he said “Ok guys you can-” I ZOOMED out of there. Anyway, to make a long story short, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. May have shed a few tears here and there, but I think almost everyone can agree it’s his best music video, minus the excess clips of him running in slomo. Now flash forward to now, it gained 10 million views in less than 12 hours. Insane. Oh also he released some pretty ugly merch minus a green hoodie with a bakery on it; Romy and I couldn’t figure out where it was from and we still don’t know. In conclusion, I think even if you’re not a fan of Harry’s you should still watch this video. If you can manage to say he’s not the cutest person alive after watching this, I have major concerns for your mental health. Also, the song is a total bop. Have you seen the music video and what did you think about it? If not, would you watch it?
Hi Ellie!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the music video yet but after this adventure of a story I am heading to youtube now lol.
I haven't seen this music video, but I'm assuming it's with Harry Styles based on the photo. I might just give it a watch later today, but who knows.
ReplyDeleteEllie I could not agree more. Watching it together also made it more fun because we had no idea what to expect(cough, cough the blue suit). I'm a bit confused if "Cherry" is now going to be released as a single too and have a music video, which would be good and bad, but we'll see. I can't wait until we can finally go to a Harry concert!!!
