If you do not have a dog, you need one. Dogs are the best! I personally own a dog and he makes my life happier every single day. My dog’s name is Rocky, he is a Golden Doodle (a mix between Golden Retriever and a Poodle), and he is awesome! We hang out all the time, go for walks or runs, play tug-a-war all the time, play catch with frisbees or tennis balls, and chill together. After I have had a ruff day (pun intended) and come home, my dog is the first one to greet me with a smile, wagging his tail in excitement. He automatically makes my day better just by seeing him. I love my dog and I suggest you get one if you do not already have one.
Now that I have shared my personal experience, I am going to share some interesting facts about dogs that improve a person’s life. First, many psychologists have done studies of this specific pet and its effect on humans, and have concluded that dogs reflect a positive and happy personality, helping people who feel depressed or sad. This is why many U.S. veterans who come back from war get a therapy dog to help comfort them. Further, it has been shown through many studies that dogs bring us more joy, relieve stress, provide a sense of comfortness and friendship, and build parenting skills because the owner has to take care of and provide for the pet. Ultimately, if you ask any dog owner, they will say that their dog makes them feel happy, and that is why you should get one for yourself. Now do you want to get a dog, or are you a cat person?

Hi Ethan, I 100% agree, I think having a dog can add years to your life. I have a rescue dog (not really sure what breed he is), but I love him so much. He puts a smile on my face every day.
