This weekend my family and I went to a restaurant for the first time since March. Because we have been staying home and have been being very careful, we sat outside instead of inside. It was honestly kind of weird to be at a restaurant and even be out sitting somewhere public because it has been months. I used to go out all the time to restaurants or other places so to now go somewhere after months of being at home felt kind of weird. Usually, at restaurants, I wouldn't be hesitant to touch things or feel uncomfortable, but this time was different. I saw myself not really wanting to touch the tables or use the silverware. I also felt uncomfortable using their cups and just drank from the can instead. I ordered a hamburger, and of course, with my luck, half of it touched the actual table. Because I was thinking of all the germs I obviously did not eat the part that touched the table. It was kind of sad though because I was really hungry.
I also would use hand sanitizer a lot too because I feel like it's just a habit now since we are now paying more attention to germs around us. But, I will say it was nice to go out to eat finally. It’s good to change the atmosphere even if it's just to eat. Ordering food to the house and eating it at the restaurant is definitely not the same. I just wonder when will the world be back to a place where we won't have to think about these things anymore and be cautious like this. I feel like there's a lot of people who are like me and are very hesitant with things that they wouldn't even have had to think about in the past.
Do you guys feel any different when you go out now compared to before corona?

Maya you're definitely not alone on this, as I'm sure most people feel the same as you. You're completely right that it feels weird to go out to eat. We're noticing things that we would have never even batted an eye during non-coronavirus times. My family and I have been going to restaurants like once every week or two and we always sit outside as well.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone out to eat at a restaurant since March. Not even just sitting outside at a Starbucks! We get carryout probably an average of once a week, but I'm just not there yet. That said, I have friends who go out constantly. It's all about what you're comfortable with, but I think it would feel super weird at this point to go out!
