My Yom Kippur - Dan - Blog 4

My Yom Kippur was a very calm, non-eventful one, just like most people. This was my second year fasting because due to my Crohn's disease, fasting wasn't something my doctor recommended years ago, but now it's fine. Fasting was surprisingly easy, because in my mind ever since I was little, fasting was this bizarre, crazy, extreme idea that was near impossible. This year, my family and I went to Yom Kippur services at Rabbi Plotkin's house. He has a service in an outside tent that is all socially distanced and very aware and cautious with COVID guidelines. Spending services at the Plotkin house was a cool experience, especially when we got to break the fast, because they served a lot of food for a lot of people, plus the whole time I was there I was able to hang out with the Plotkin brothers who I get along with. Overall, I had a very meaningful Yom Kippur, but it was also a learning experience and a fun time with friends, so I got a little bit of everything, and how could I forget the day off from school that we get.

How was your Yom Kippur?
