Jacob Abramchaev - Week 11 - Elon Musk Book Review

Yesterday, I finally finished reading the book, Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future, by Ashlee Vance. I want to start off by saying that if anyone enjoys reading (*Yair*) then you should definitely give this book a shot. Basically, it’s just a biography of probably the most important person in the world when it comes to the future survival of the human race. If you're not already familiar with who Musk even is, he’s co-founded world-renowned companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Paypal, and he’s the third richest person in the world with an estimated 90 billion dollars. I really enjoyed reading this book because it starts off with his humble beginnings in Pretoria, South Africa where he learned many core values that he holds close to himself to this day. As a child, he was very curious and he was an avid reader of science fiction, which inspired him to create a space company in his goal to colonize Mars. The book was well written, for it provided the reader with multiple perspectives of how Elon Musk has been able to achieve so much success. The book goes on to talk about each of his early startups and how he eventually grew them into billion-dollar companies. Overall, the book was excellent and inspiring, and Musk even reminds me of the real Tony Stark. Musk shows that in order to succeed in life, you're going to have to take big risks while working extremely hard. I really hope they make a movie about him in the near future.

Do you guys have other great book or movie recommendations?

  1. Hi Jacob, I am currently on the phone with you and reading my comment out loud, so I will try to be nice. No guarantees. I have not read this book before, but I feel like I will read it in the near future. This book is similar to the Steve Jobs biography, which I have not read yet either. Wow, would you look at that? My to-read book list has grown by 2 books! Thank you, Jacob.

  2. Hi Jacob. Elon Musk is an amazing role model that I look up to. I find it amazing how he comes from a middle class home in South Africa and is now the third richest person in the world. His work ethic is unbelievable in the fact that he runs more than 3 different companies successfully to the point where each company is at the top of its field. While this book does look good and I might just have to read it, I would like for Elon to write a book of his own so that I could learn directly from him about what makes him so successful.

  5. Hi Jacob, I have not read this book, but I do know that Elon Musk was able to make something huge out of himself. He is a very successful man and he is very fortunate to have been able to really make his way to the top. I have never heard his background story so I would really be interested in reading it. Also, I do not have any recommendations at the moment.
