Eden Richman Week 13 - A Friend in My Garage

For the past one to two years, there has been a lizard living in my garage. When I first saw it, I was scared. It was big and fat, and scary. I jumped back at the sight of its neck slowly moving up and down, dancing to the nonexistent music playing. I glared at him, tried to assert my dominance, but he glared right back. Every time I go to my garage to do laundry, to get in the car, or to grab a snack, he is there. I started ignoring him and living my life, while he ignored me and lived his. I thought he must die soon, he doesn't have anything to eat in here. He did not die, he grew bigger. I don't know what he is eating, maybe he is eating my food.  I have talked to my family about him, and they know him too. My mom said that she had a conversation with him once she told him to "stay out of our way." Each day he becomes more and more comfortable living in our garage. When I walk close to him, he doesn't run away. When I make a loud noise it doesn't scare him. He even likes to sit on the windowsill and (I kid you not) sunbathe. HE IS A LIZARD! HE HAS THE ENTIRE OUTDOORS TO SUNBATHE! This lizard is living his best, luxurious life, while his family is out in the wild roughing it to survive. It seems safe to say that this lizard is now a part of the household. The only thing that irks me is that he doesn't pay any rent. smh. Do you have a lizard that likes to hang around your house? 🦎👄🦎

  1. Eden! This seems like such a niche topic, yet I relate completely. We have a lizard living on the top of our outside mini fridge, underneath a counter. It's a small shaded gap, and every time we go to grab a drink or walk outside, it's are always there. I think their life span is long because we have had Lizzie, yes we named it, living there for years. Anyway, you should name your lizard since it will probably be living with you guys for while. Let me know what you name it haha
