Have any of you tried to write music? If any of you have you’ll know what I’m talking about. And when I say it's weird, what I really mean it sucks. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love writing music, it's super fun and rewarding, but when you can’t get that perfect sound or the right notes, it feels super annoying and really frustrating. And especially when you like writing in a certain genre and you surround yourself with it.
I love Steve Vai and I’ve tried to write things that sound Vai esque, but it’s borderline impossible for me to even come up with the first phrase of the song. It’s similar with so many other genres, like how on god’s green earth did Meshuggah write Bleed. It gets even worse when you have no real training and you’re not sure what anything really means. Like I said, I like writing technical pieces, but not knowing what a perfect fifth is or how to use it in an Ionian mode is just confusing and really discouraging. But still it’s something that I love doing and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon.
Hey Jacob, I will start off by saying I know absolutely nothing about this field. Reading music is hard enough, and I cannot imagine the struggle of writing it. However, it looks like a great way to express yourself. Its also probably fulfilling when you find that perfect note. I look at it like finding the perfect seasoning combo to a dish I am making. Glad you enjoy and keep it up!
