Lauren Hodes- Week 12- Israel and the Covid vaccine

Israel is leading the world in Covid-vaccinations currently having vaccinated well over 1 million people. High-risk and older aged patients are being vaccinated with priority. This strategy is being used so that deaths and cases are kept to a minimum. With this (G-D willing) will come less ICU visits and elderly/immunocompromised related deaths. With over 150,000 vaccinations a day, Israel is doing an amazing job! The prime minister of Israel said that he “envisioned the reunited families sitting around a seder table on Passover, the Holiday of Freedom. He said, “When asked what has changed this night, the answer will be: everything has changed, this night we are all changed.” This is very inspiring and should be a model for the world to follow. Israel is leading the path once again and being a role model for other nations. Israel has even created a name for their mass vaccinations. Entitled operation “Lend a Shoulder” Israel is set to be done vaccinating in March. Israel seems like life is moving on and things could be getting back to normal. As we have seen in other countries such as New Zealand, a covid-free country could be a reality soon. Hopefully, Pesach is going to be a turning point for the country as Bibi said. I hope for all of our sakes that Israel is getting back to some sense of normalcy as I know many of us have had to cancel trips or are planning to be in Israel very shortly:)

  1. I agree with you Lauren that Israel is doing a great job with their covid vaccine and distribution of it. It is great to see that there are at least some places around the world quickly trying to vaccinate as many elderly and people with pre-existing conditions as possible. Hopefully the rate at which they are doing things can occur here in the U.S. as well very soon.

  2. Hi Lauren. I agree, Israel seems to be doing great! I hope the US can follow Israel's strategy, but it might be a bit more difficult because of the drastic difference in population between us and them. We'll just have to keep watching and see what happens with the coronavirus over there and who knows, we might be able to have an in-person seder this year :)

  3. Hi Lauren, I was just in Israel and all my grandparent were vaccinated when I was there! Israel is doing an amazing job with getting stuff done. Not only my grandparents were vaccinated, but some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins as well. I was so happy for my family because everything in Israel has been pretty bad. Nothing there is the way it is here. When I was there you can't even sit at a restaurant. You have to do delivery or take out and if you take out and want to eat it on the spot you need to find a bench to sit on. It is really hard for the small business because they can't provide delivery and when the whole country is shut down they make no money. I am hopeful that Israel will continue to go on the same track and vaccinate everyone so their lives can be better. Since it is a small country with a small population they have a better chance of vaccinating everyone and finishing with Covid as soon as possible.

  4. Yesss, I completely agree that Israel is doing an amazing job with the vaccine distribution! I hope that Israel is finally known for always being one step ahead :). I also love the fact that they are giving it to elderlies first, because we all know that they complete the seder!

  5. I agree that Israel is doing the best job with the vaccine distribution probably in the whole world right now. I am kind of disappointed that America does not lead in vaccine distribution seeing as the company that is creating the vaccines is an American company, but I am still very happy that Israel found success, and hope that everything will go back to normal as soon as possible when the population has herd immunity from this virus.
