New Hobbies! Diana - Week 13

Hey guys! Over winter break I discovered some new hobbies, including, journaling, watching movies (even though I already like doing that), and doing puzzles. At the beginning of winter break, I was so unproductive, and I felt like I was on my phone 24/7, so I needed to find something else to do to keep me busy. I'm always complaining about how stressed I am with school, but when I actually have a break and have nothing to do I find myself bored out of my mind. I had to come up with some activities to keep me occupied so that my winter break didn't go to waste.

First, of course, I had to watch some movies. My mom, sister, and I watched ALL 8 Harry Potter movies. Yes, I know that's a lot, but what can I say we had a lot of time on our hands. It was also a nice way to spend time together before my sister had to go back to college. Every night we would reconvene in the living room and watch one movie, and before we knew it we finished the series.

Then, I tried journaling. Romy has been pushing me to start this because she has always been into journaling, and she thought I would really enjoy it. At first, I neglected doing this journaling thing, but turns out Romy was right and I love it. I think it's a great way to get all your feelings out, and later on its interesting to look back at, so I'm glad Romy encouraged me to start this new hobby.

Lastly, Puzzling! This one is probably my favorite activity that I started. My mom and sister were at home goods and saw a 3D Harry Potter puzzle and of course, they got it for me. Now I am no puzzle master, but this 3D puzzle is SO difficult. Puzzles alone are challenging but 3D! This is just a whole other level. However, I always love a challenge. Anyways, all these activities really made my winter break more enjoyable overall, and I would definitely recommend trying some out. Do you like doing any of these three things? Would you try one if you haven't?

  1. Hi Diana! That's awesome that you tried out new hobbies over winter break. I also love to watch movies! I actually haven't seen the Harry Potter movies in a long time, though, so this blog post is reminding me how much I want to rewatch those. Over break, I watched several Steven Spielberg movies, such as Jurassic Park, which I definitely recommend! In terms of journaling, I really like to journal too and started doing this in the beginning of freshman year. I agree that it's such a good way to get all your feelings out, and I love looking back at all my inner dialogue, including what was going on in my life. I've never been into puzzles, but since the beginning of quarantine, I've noticed how they've gotten especially popular. I do want to try one sometime soon!

  2. Hi Diana,
Honestly, I have not tried to do puzzling or journaling, but I most definitely watched movies and tv shows. Over winter break I actually did not have that much time on my hands because I was in Israel. When I do have a lot of time on my hands my mom and I watch TV shows together. We always find something to watch together when we both have time to relax. I have never been into any of the Harry Potter movies, but maybe I should watch them just cause they are classics? My family plays board games sometime when we all have time on our hands. Like during the summer. We played board games and watched TV shows together. I heard journaling is very relaxing and refreshing, so that may be a good option for me. Maybe I should try and do that. Thanks for recommending!

  3. Hi Dee, That’s so cool that you started picking up all these hobbies. I have always wanted to try journaling, but I could never get into it. I also have tried to do puzzles, but I loose patience way before I finish the puzzle. However, I LOVE MOVIES! I watch movies all the time. Usually the same ones over and over again, but I’m always open to new suggestions.
