School is a drag. It never ends. When you finish a stressful assignment or get a hard test out of the way there is generally another monster around the corner for you to lose sleep over. What I find best is to focus on what you have to look forward to. For me, in the first semester, I have football to look forward to on the weekends, then during the second semester of school, I have tennis season. Apart from going to the gym, I have barely left my house and certainly haven't seen people, so sadly getting out of the house becomes something to get excited about. The season started on Tuesday, and it was surprising and pleasing to see so many go out that wanted to play. There are kids from all grades, and a lot of my friends are playing. It's great to see them in a safe way, and I also obviously enjoy playing tennis. The coach has us running a lot which I don't mind, but most importantly I feel like I have something to look forward to every day. For me, it makes the school day easier to get through, and I feel more focused on my work at night. I'm also sleeping better after getting fresh air and exercise. Being able to play a sport in person is just such a great experience and I'm happy my parents are letting me play even though I'm not in school. Is there anything that you look forward to during the school year that works as a motivator? If so what is it?
Hi Zev, Im exactly the same way. I always need something to motivate me or have something to look forward to. Usually, its always volleyball. I play pretty much year round, so its just a permanent activity to look forward to. Every year my dad and I cant wait for hockey season (im sure you cant wait either), so I guess thats like football for you. Im also so happy that you can play tennis this year. It must be so difficult to be online everyday and not being able to see your friends often.
ReplyDeleteHey Zev,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog and good luck on the tennis season. You better beat everyone from Yeshiva! I was wondering how your ping pong translates to your tennis. Also, my motivator for this year is to get into a good college and get recruited for soccer. Is tennis your favorite sport to watch because I know it is your favorite to play, or do you prefer something else?
Hey Zev, I totally agree with what you are saying. It is hard to worry about school when you have nothing to look forward to after. I have been playing sports all year, but I look forward to tennis season all year. It is my favorite high school sport. To be honest though, summer is my motivator for school. I always plan out what I will be doing so I know what I have to look forward to. Can’t wait to play tennis with you in 2 weeks!
