Diana Week 15 - College Abroad??

Hey guys, so recently I have been thinking about college because it's right around the corner. I know for sure that I want to take a gap year and study abroad, but I was thinking, what if I could do both? I have never really thought about college, other than florida schools like UF or FSU, but recently I have just been wanting something different. I still have a year to decide, but i'm taking some ideas into consideration. I was doing some research, and I think my answer is going to college in scotland or england! I don't know why, but I feel like the UK would really suit me. Anyways, this way I would be traveling, but actually going to college. I want something more permanent, not just a year to study abroad so this could be my solution.

Lately I have been kind of bored with Florida, and I'm looking for a change. I was doing some research, of course there's Oxford University, but that is extremely hard to get into. Some other options in England were the University of Cambridge and the University of Manchester. These look like beautiful schools that I would definitely take into consideration. However, the best school that I looked at has to be the University of Edinburgh, it looks like it came straight out of the Harry potter movies!

I think these schools in the UK would be amazing if I got the chance to go there. I'm still very unsure of what the future looks like, but if I got the opportunity to study in a foreighn country it would really be a dream come true. What are your guys thoughts about college? Would you want to go to school abroad?

  1. Hey Dee!
I too have been thinking a lot about college and my future in general. My mom really wants me to go to college at IDC in Israel, but I feel like I won’t- but who knows. I also spoke to my parents about studying in the UK, but they think it is too gloomy. I definitely am thinking about taking a gap year, perhaps in Israel, and eventually studying abroad in Europe.

  2. Hey Dee, since you're so passionate about the Harry Potter movies and talking in an English accent, I can definitely see you going to a school in England. Personally if I were to study abroad, I'd only want to do a semester somewhere in Europe. My plan for next year is to either end up in a Florida or a California school (preferably UCLA or USC but like those schools are hard to get into). Thankfully, due to pandemic all UC school are going test optional or test blind (meaning that they won't even give an option to submit a test score). If I end up going to a Florida school (probably UCF) I would want to move out to Los Angeles in my future life. Would you want to live in England for the rest of your life or just for a couple of years?

  3. Hi Diana, studying abroad in the UK sounds really exciting! I'm not sure where I want to go to college or if I'm going to take a gap year. I would love to take a gap year in Israel, but it might be tough if I play college tennis. If I don't, I'll probably end up in Israel for a year. I was planning on going to visit a few colleges this weekend (Mid-Winter Break), but it is very cold in the Northeast. I was also thinking about visit UF, but that is not happening this weekend either. Anyways...well see how the future plays out.
