My Hand Hurts - Coby Russo Week 15

Since my week was pretty uneventful, I'm going to talk about the aches and pains I've been experiencing in my hand. Lately, the muscle and bone area between my thumb and pointer finger simply just have been hurting. It first started when I was playing golf the other day at Drive Shack near West Palm Beach International Airport. I remember feeling some weird type of pain, but I thought it was absolutely nothing and just left it alone. Then throughout the week I've just been randomly feeling these abnormal type of strains in my hand. Also, whenever I hit a forehand while playing in a tennis match, my hand feels like there is a little shock of pain traveling through it, or when my fingers bend in a certain way, it feels like two people playing tug of war with my finger muscles.

The problem with Google and the World Wide Web is that they take everything to the next level. When I search online: "Why is my hand hurting" the results explain that there is a possibility that I have Arthritis or De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. Like why can't it just tell me that I probably pulled or bruised something and should just ice it for a little while (which I probably should do). The annoying this is, we rely on the internet for practically everything and a lot of the time google over exaggerates everything. What do you think, is the internet over dramatic and provides unnecessary information (in this type of circumstance), or is it beneficial that we know all the unrealistic possibilities? Also, what should I do about my hand?

  1. Hey Coby, I hope that your hand gets better. I definitely think that people can sometimes be over dramatic online, so you shouldn't believe everything that you read or see. Maybe icing or putting heat on the hand will make it better, but I am not 100% sure.

  2. What's up Coby, I've gone through something similar for awhile. Something in my elbow hurts in a shooting pain every time I throw something, go to the gym, and most importantly play tennis. Just know your limits of when you need to stop playing and always ice it before and after you play. Hope you feel better!

  3. Hi Coby,
this is actually really funny because I have a problem of searching things up on the internet. Once I start feeling something weird I search it up right away and the internet takes it to an extreme. It is obviously really scary when you see things like that, but I know that it is probably not true. My family knows that I search everything up and they get so mad at me because it is so bad that I do it because I get in my head and start thinking all these horrible things are wrong with me. Anyways, don't learn from me.

  4. Hi Coby, I hope that your hand is feeling better. It could be from tennis since you play now. I can definitely relate with you on the searching things up part. Its a really bad habit I have and i'm trying to get better with it. Im a very anxious person so it just makes things worse. The only thing I could suggest for your hand is icing it.
