Olivia Ball - Week 15 - District Championship ... AND Regionals!?

Yesterday, the Donna Klein Eagles soccer team played in the district semi-finals, and shocking everyone WON the game, and are now heading to the finals. Here’s how it all happened…

The season started out pretty rocky, i’m not going to lie, but this season has been such an amazing experience. We might not have the best players, and we might not always will, but we always have a positive attitude and keep fighting no matter what. Throughout the whole regular season, we only won 2 games, the first and the last. We were ranked number ⅘ in the district and in order to qualify for the playoffs, we needed to beat the #5 team in the district. Then something unexpected happened. Lake Worth Christian dropped out of the tournament because one of their players tested positive. We now automatically qualified for the semi-finals ranked #3. We were scheduled to play Berean Christian, a team that beat us a few weeks ago. Nobody expected that we even had a chance to win.

Overall, the game was a pretty even matchup. We did everything that we were supposed to do and practiced every day, but nobody scored. Then regulation time ended and we had a 20 minute overtime. Still, nobody scored. If you know soccer, you know what comes next… PKs. We had 5 players take the shots and thanks to Ari’s insane saves on 2 of their shots, and our team making all of ours, WE WON after only 4 shots. I have never experienced anything like this before and I am so grateful for the opportunity that I had to play on the team this year.

Everyone please come support the Eagles in our DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP game next Wednesday at 3:30pm at Trinity Christian! See you there!
