Hunter David Week 19 Post - Designated Survivor

It’s that time again; I needed another new TV show on Netflix to watch, and I found a good one in the show “Designated Survivor”.

Basically, the show is about a low-level member of the U.S. Cabinet, who one night was chosen to be the “designated survivor”, the person who secretly stays behind from a big meeting just in case a terrible incident happens to all of the other U.S. leaders. Little did Tom Kirkman know, the chosen “designated survivor” that night, that his life would change forever that night.

Hours after being stuck in a room with his wife, all of the power in the building goes off all a sudden, and to his eventual realization, the Capitol, where the State of the Union address was taking place, was just blown up, killing everyone that was inside. From there, a bunch of Secret Service took Kirkman straight to the White House, where he would somehow become the next president of the United States. This show is pretty crazy so far, as it tells the story of his presidency, and the investigation behind the Capitol bombing, which killed the President and Vice President, as well as most of the Cabinet and Housing and Urban Development Secretary.

I would definitely recommend this show to anyone looking for a new good mystery series. It also teaches you a good amount about things that go on in our government. Do you think you would be interested in this show? Or, have you heard/watched it before and dis/liked it?

  1. Hi Hunter, I have never really watched a full TV series before, but this one sounds really interesting. Now you made me wonder whether or not the "designated survivor" is a real thing or not. I will have to look that up later. Thank you for the show recommendation.

  2. Hi Hunter. I have watched "Designated Survivor" and I thought that is was pretty good. I always like those shows that combine American government with action and some of the most outrageous things that could happen. I also think that its pretty cool to see how the line of succession to president works, but also pretty scary that our country is run by basically a nobody if an event like the one in the show G-d-forbbid happens.
