Jacob Abramchaev Week 2 - My Opinion on the New School Schedule

Ever since the start of the new school year, Rosenblatt High School started using the best schedule ever. It’s a block scheduling system, which is when you have longer class periods that meet fewer times each day and week. Fortunately, most days I get to be done with school by the time its lunch, and I’m glad I don’t have to worry about school for the remainder of the day. While some of my friends have to stay in school longer, I get to finish my work before most people. Throughout freshman and sophomore year, I would often show up late for first period, and with school now starting at 8:30, it's awesome because I get more sleep which helps me throughout the day in terms of energy levels. During the old school schedule, I had all of my classes on the same day and way more hours of school. I feel much more relaxed with this schedule, but a major con is that classes are each 55 minutes, which is longer. Before we had to do homework for every class, for it was due the next day, but now you have an extra day in between to get assignments done. Since I end school at 12 o’clock on most days, that gives me plenty of time to work on activities like my FLVS class, basketball, reading, relaxing, and spending more time with my family and friends.

Do you prefer the format of the old schedule or the new one?

  1. I like this schedule better actually. I like how I have two days to finish homework for classes instead of one. I also like how we usually only have three classes per day, and the old schedule had more.
