Maya Melamed 2- stop taking things for granted

With all the time at home, I've had many thoughts in my head. There's one specific thought that has stuck with me and I think it's important for everyone to remember this. It's very easy to take things for granted, I know we all do it. The most important thing we really need to start appreciating more is that we are healthy. We take being healthy for granted because that just seems “normal”, but in reality, we forget about the people that unfortunately aren't so lucky like us. We really are so lucky and don't realize how much of a blessing that is. I think every day when you wake up you need to be grateful for all the great things you have in life. Even sometimes when you are having a bad day, remember about the good things you have that unfortunately many people in the world struggle with like getting food, having a roof over your head,  having a family, and that you are not ill.  As someone right now who is actually watching someone go through something and unfortunately isn't so well right now, trust me we are so lucky and need to realize that. I see the way it impacts the person mentally and physically, it's not easy. I feel like when people see others that are not so lucky like them, they think about it for a second and then move on, but I think it's important to just understand and really think about what everything you have means to you. I always put myself in people's shoes and tell myself “what if that was me, how would I feel right now” And that really helps me appreciate and be grateful for my life.

What is something you are going to start appreciating more?

  1. Maya this is really meaningful and insightful. We always take little things for granted, but we really should stop and appreciate it. Our health is so important and we need to be tankful for every little thing. Seeing other people sick is like a reality check, but we all should try remember how lucky we are each and every day. Even if some days are hard, we are truly lucky to be living our lives.
