My blog post for this week will be a review of how Donna Klein Jewish Academy adjusted to online school. I will try and keep my opinions of liking or disliking being online and instead focus on how I feel the school adjusted. We went online for the end of last school year, and that short trial period is paying dividends for students and teachers. I will be honest, five out of my six classes last year sucked online. I couldn't see or comprehend the information. That was somewhat expected though, as there was no time to prepare when COVID-19 took over the world. I haven't met a single person that even considered the country still being shut down in September. Anyways, I figured and trusted Donna Klein would crack the best way to run virtual school. And to the credit of administrators, they did. It must be near IMPOSSIBLE to schedule the full high school while every student has individually different classes. I do not mind having classes every other day, and the change to 55 minute periods makes sense. The scheduling makes sense, but the biggest change was the teachers. From the first day, it was abundantly clear that our teachers worked hard to teach in a way that students can process information. A lot of students are complaining, but I just feel like we need to be grateful to go to a school that is looking out for the safety and comfort of the students and staff. The adjustment is a sacrifice everyone needed to make, and I feel Donna Klein did a great job transitioning to online. Do you guys think everything that could be done to provide a learning experience is in place?

I agree completely. I can see how hard everyone worked to get this schedule up and running. Even with some of it's downsides, it's much better than before and people worked hard, we should recognize the work that went in.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't agree with your idea Zev, i think you gave great points that I can respect. You are not being biased and you're being very insightful as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything that you said here. People need to be more grateful for all of the hard work that is put into having school period. It is even harder to schedule everything for hybrid. The points that you made were very though out and I think could change the minds of people who didn't originally think this. This needed to be said.
