Criminal Minds Review - Dan - Blog 5

Criminal Minds is a show on Netflix that does a deep-dive into the minds and behaviors of twisted criminals. The main characters are the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) of the FBI, based in Quantico, Virginia. They consist of Aaron Hotchner (Hotch), the leader of the unit, has the highest position. Spencer Reid, a 20-year old that has an unbelievably high IQ, also has a doctorate, he specializes in geographical profiling. Emily Prentiss joins the show a couple seasons in, she's very smart and a great profiler. Dave Rossi, one of the most famous FBI agents of all time, has written multiple books and is world-renowned, he joins the show in season 3. Penelope Garcia is the tech master, she's extremely funny and tech-savvy, she is one of my favorites. JJ Jareau, she's the press' counterpart in the FBI. When they report about criminals and/or give profiles, JJ is the one to do it. Derek Morgan is an ex-bomb specialist and is great at kicking down doors. He's an extremely talented profiler as well. These 7 make up the BAU of the FBI, and every episode takes the viewer through a different journey. The show is extremely gripping because you actually begin to learn how twisted minds work, and how and why these sick criminals behave like they do. The way that the BAU is able to capture their criminals is by profiling, which by definition means "the recording and analysis of a person's psychological and behavioral characteristics, so as to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain sphere or to assist in identifying a particular subgroup of people". Trying to catch the most wanted criminals in America and juggling their own personal lives as well can be tumultuous sometimes for the group, and Criminal Minds takes us through all of that.

Would you watch Criminal Minds? And if you already did, did you like it?

  1. A few years ago, i actually started to watch Criminal Minds on Netflix and I enjoyed it. For some reason though, I stopped watching a few seasons in, and I never really attempted to continue watching. Maybe now I will try and do so again.

  2. Hi Dan, this was a great review to read! I know of many people who have been watching Criminal Minds recently and love this show, so I would definitely consider checking it out. I think the idea of looking into the minds of criminals to see what causes them to commit the actions they do sounds intriguing, as well as how these high-tech organizations run. I’ll have to add this to my watch list.

  3. Like Hunter, I watched a few seasons of Criminal Minds, but stopped in the middle because I felt like every episode was just the same thing happening with different characters and a settings. It kind of got boring to me, but I would be willing to give it another try.

  4. Hi Dan. I saw one episode of criminal minds a few years ago because I think it was just randomly on t.v. or something. I haven't really watched it since, but it's been on my list to watch for a while. I've heard a lot of people talk about it on tik tok and a lot of my friends love it. Maybe that'll be my next show I watch. Oh I also know it because MGG is such a cutie.

  5. My sister used to watch this show ALL the time, and it impacted her decision to study criminology at John Jay school of Criminal Justice in NYC. I thought the show was so graphic and kinda disgusting, but I was also 12. I think if I watched now I'd be a lot more into it and excited to to watch the whole thing.
