Romy H week 6 Carpe Diem

Romy H week 6 Carpe Diem

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot as I have painted. AP art consumes most of my weekends, and I spend hours painting. Most of the time, I sit in silence with no music and just listen to my thoughts. I allow my mind to wander and think about anything. Something I have realized is that most people do not seize their day, month, year, or more. Ever since we are young, we are always working towards something. We can’t wait until the next week, month, year, or milestone. When you are in elementary school, you can’t wait to go to middle school. The same applies to every stage of life. Wherever you are, you are most likely working to get to another point. In high school, we constantly think about our future, and we are just studying to get good grades so that we can go to college. We all need to stop and realize that once these moments or years are over, we can never get them back. Appreciating what I have and where I am is something that I’m working on and hope to perfect. I want to live with no regrets. I want to live every moment because I want to, not because it is for someone else or to get somewhere. Each decision affects my future, of course, so I can’t completely drop everything. Of course, I will still work hard in school because, at the end of the day, it still does define who you are and what you can become in our society. Instead, while I am studying and trying my best so that I can get into a good college and have a successful future, I will seize every moment along the way. I want to make sure that I make the most of every moment and not just focus on another point I wish to get to. It is a hard adjustment since it seems like everything we do is to get something or somewhere else, but this mentality can greatly alter our perception of life and improve every aspect of truly living.

  1. Hi Romy, what you wrote was so true. There are many times where I focus so much on the future that I do not pay any attention to the present moment. An example of this is right now, where I am only thinking about the next sentence I am going to write and whether this comment is long enough at all. Anyways, I agree that it is so important to enjoy the present moment!
