Making Video Games (or at least attempting it)
This Sunday I took the SAT, so after I was finished I came home and decided to give my homework a break. I decided to try and learn how to code games with a programming language called Python. For those of you who don’t know what Python is, it is a programming language that can be used to building app, programs, and games, as well as many other things that I don’t know about.
Like a typical Gen Z’er, I started my journey with a simple YouTube search. I watched a video tutorial of a Python module called pygame, where the guy was showing me how to build a Space Invaders game. After spending some time trying to understand the man’s words disguised under his heavy foreign accent, I moved on to another video by a YouTuber who spoke English with an American accent. What a luxury!
I am in the middle of this tutorial at the moment, and the video is showing me how to create the video game, Pong. If I ever end up finishing the project I will be pleased, but who knows if I will. I am amazed at my progress so far on learning how to program computer games and hopefully, I will get past square one.
This video game phase of mine might go nowhere, but I believe that anything is possible. Who knows, maybe I will be a rich game developer one year from now. Or an intern at Facebook or Google. Or even a senior in high school! If I end up becoming a rich game developer that would be amazing, although I feel that my chances are fairly slim. Next year I will probably be the exact same Yair but with two new school shirts.
Hey Yair!
ReplyDeleteYou're really motivating me to get back into python programming because I haven't done any programming in a little over a year now. Python was the only language I used and I recommend it to anyone who wants a simple but super powerful language. Maybe we can collaborate on a specific programming project like a game or an app.
