Coby Russo Week 16- Robo Dogs To Mars!

During the 21st Century, new technological innovations has become a norm. Recently, NASA, universities, and many other space organizations have been discussing the use of "four-legged, animal-mimicking robots with artificial intelligence (AI) and an array of sensing equipment" in order to further explore and navigate several terrains and caves across the Red Planet. These Robot Dogs are significantly more effective than the Mars rovers because the older, wheeled, vehicles are limited to only flatlands. The new technology will be able to maneuver through or avoid any obstacle (even falling down) it faces and reach untouched land on Mars. The Robot Dogs additionally weigh twelve times lighter and move around 33 times faster than the average rover. With their visual, motion, and thermal sensors, they would also be able to create 3D maps for us back here on Earth.

The real question is, what does this mean for us? For a multitude of years, many entrepreneurs, inventors, and space companies have introduces the ideas of colonization on the Red Planet. The Mars Dogs will help us discover new areas, like caves and areas a Mars rover can't reach, that will reveal additional information about places we may want to call our future home. They'll increase our knowledge about Mar's past, it's weather, temperatures, and UV radiation levels. If you knew it was safe, thanks to the Mars Dogs, would you ever want to make the courageous decision and move to another planet? Personally, I would strongly consider moving, but I am not so sure if I would be able to leave my friends, family, and life. Let me know what you would do in the comments!

  1. Hi Coby, I would be interested in traveling to Mars, but I don't know if I could move there permanently. Maybe if all of my family and friends came with, I would do it, but it would be a tough decision. I think the new AI technology is really cool because now robots can explore Mars without human effort. It seems like it will be a matter of years before people start moving to Mars.

  2. Hi Coby, I would not be able to make the decision to move to mars or any other planet. Leaving my family, friends, and everything I know would not be easy for me at all. I feel that there is still so much for me to discover on our planet, so there is no need for me to leave it.

  3. Hi coby,
I don't think I would want to move to Mars, but I would love to visit. Im kind of enjoying Earth right now, so I think im gonna stay here until I HAVE to move. I feel like Mars wouldn't be as exciting as Earth is, so im not so convinced to live there.
