This past Sunday was Super Bowl 55, and to the shock of many, Tom Brady won his 7th Super Bowl with his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady had only just joined the team this past offseason, after about 2 decades of playing for the New England Patriots, where he had previously won 6 of his 7 Super Bowls. With a global pandemic limiting his practice time with his new team, not many thought that Brady could lead the team to the playoffs, let alone a Super Bowl in his first year. The Bucs hadn’t even made the playoffs in the last decade, making the feat that much more incredible.
Tom Brady, who by the way is age 43, had an amazing game on Sunday, completing 21-29 of his passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdown passes went to Rob Gronkowski, a former Patriot that Brady convinced to play with him after initially retiring two seasons ago. The other touchdown pass went to another player Brady had only recently brought in to the team, Antonio Brown. After dealing with some legal issues the past few years, Tom Brady pushed to give Brown another chance to play on a team that already had both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, two incredible wide receivers.
Not only did the offense play well, but the defense played amazing as well. The Bucs defense caused Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, to throw two interceptions, get sacked twice, and not allow one single touchdown to be thrown or run into the endzone. That is a very good defense.
All in all, we witnessed some very big football history, with Tom Brady getting his 7th Super Bowl ring, more than any franchise in the NFL, leading a team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 4 playoff wins (with a Super Bowl) for this first time in many years. This game may not have been very back and forth, but I thought that it was a pretty good Super Bowl game.
Hi Hunter. Personally I don't really care about football but the Superbowl is the one day I'll watch it. I love the halftime performances and the funny commercials. I thought the commercials this year were pretty meh but I loved the Weeknd's performance. I also heard Dan was very excited because apparently he really likes the Buccaneers so yay.
ReplyDeleteHi Hunter, as I am not really a fan of either of the teams in the super bowl this year, I didn’t really watch it. If I was home I probably would have, but I worked that night, so I just didn’t at all. I don’t have anything against Tom Brady, but I didn’t like him on the Patriots. Now that he is on Tampa, I think that their ability to win the super bowl really speaks to how talented he is, especially at his age.
