For the first time in months, Israeli musician Aviv Geffen got to perform in front of 300 people. All 300 people were wearing masks and socially distanced. However, only certain people were allowed at the event. Those who had a “Green Passport” were welcome in. The green passport proves that you have either been vaccinated or have recovered from corona. While this could be a potential road back to normalcy, this further divides the world “along the lines of wealth, and vaccine access”. Moreover, in Israel, green passports are recognized through an app. Israel also came to agreements with Greece and Cyprus to recognize one another's green passports, which will promote tourism.
The government is highly encouraging vaccines. Unfortunately, the government needs to realize that the vaccine is not readily available to everyone, and not everyone may want to get the vaccine. Cost, religion, and fear, ultimately determine the decision of those getting the vaccine. Yes, the green pass could be a new normal for most, but “we can't be discriminatory against people who, for whatever reason, can't have the vaccine”. The green pass will most likely be our future, making it so that wherever you want to go you need that form of identification.
Personally, I will be getting the vaccine when it is available to me, and my parents have already gotten it, but I fear that our country will be divided. Many people are hesitant about getting the vaccine, so this can't be something that everyone is willing to do. People will have to make decisions if they want to return back to the way life was pre- corona. What are your thoughts on the green pass?

ReplyDeleteI think the green pass is good for right now. While we are still in a pandemic and cases are high, I think its smart and it encourages people to get vaccinated. I do think that when covid is gone, you shouldn't need a green pass because it wouldn't be fair. I completely understand people who don't want to get vaccinated, thats why I think the green pass should be temporary.
