Hunter David Week 20 Post - Normalcy by Independence Day?

Exactly one year to the day that the coronavirus was officially called a pandemic, President Joe Biden gave a prime time speech to the entire country, making a few important guarantees.

His first guarantee was that all adults, 18 years of age and older, will be eligible to get the vaccine(s) by May 1st. This is great news, because though not every American adult will be able to get the vaccine right on the first of May, if everyone is able to at least start waiting in line for a vaccination, it will lead to a large majority of the country being vaccinated, safer, and a big step closer to returning back to a state of normalcy.

The other promise that President Joe Biden made during his speech was that he felt all Americans could begin gathering regularly in small groups by July 4th, which happens to be the holiday of Independence Day. This would be amazing if accomplished, as not only would there be a national holiday to celebrate, but being able to celebrate with some people you haven’t seen in over a year will be something truly great to light fireworks for.

I am hopeful that President Biden’s promises will be kept, as it will be great if things would really be looking much more normalized by the summer, and by the time the next school year rolls around, it will hopefully be a nearly normal senior year of high school for my grade and I. What do you guys think, do you believe in the promises President Biden recently made, and do you think we can truly get back to normal by the mid-summer time?

  1. Hi Hunter. These promises definitely sound hopeful, and I think there's a good chance they will come true! This is especially because I've been noticing the vaccination process picking up speed, with a lot more people being able to get it. I don’t think life will be fully back to normal by July (in terms of being able to travel and/or gather in crowds), but I can imagine there being more general immunity to the virus and less restrictions (e.g., small gatherings).

  2. Hey Hunter, honestly I think a lot of the things he said there will happen. I've really been noticing how effective and efficient and large the whole vaccination process is, at least here in Florida. So many people are getting vaccinated and I can kind of feel it in the air that some relief is coming back. I think it would be awesome if there could be some sense of normalcy by July 4th, because who doesn't love a nice July 4th BBQ with some friends.

  3. Hi Hunter,
I think we all are looking forward to getting some sort of normalcy back. As of now, I know so many people that are vaccinated or that are getting vaccinated. Hopefully the vaccine process continues to be fast and effective so that we can have normalcy by July.

  4. Hey Hunter, I believe that most people would agree that we are all ready to take the next step back to normalcy. I am forever grateful that vaccines are being distributed rapidly nationwide, and I can't wait to get it! I'm so excited to be able to go to large social gatherings once again, and I hope we are able to have a normal school year. I really hope President Biden's promises remain true.
