Week 18, Aly Strauss, Teenager From Coma Doesn’t Know about Covid
A teenager who ‘emerged’ from a ten month coma, has no knowledge of the pandemic. He was in a car crash and went into a coma. In the coma he got covid twice which kid of like irony (since he was unaware of it), but other than that, he doesn’t know much about the pandemic.
His name is Joseph Flavill. He’s a nineteen year old boy he got hit by a car while walking in Burton on March 1, last year. He slipped into a coma about three weeks before Britain's first national lockdown occurred. Luckily, he’s starting to recover from his brain injuries that led him into a coma, now the main thing is to teach him about all the crazy stuff in the world-like a worldwide pandemic!
According to his aunt, he’s starting to become more aware of everything, but they won’t know what he knows for a while. The family has tried to explain everything that’s going on in the world on a video, but it’s a little hard to do that through a video call. It’s a video call because of covid regulations, the family can’t see him in person yet. He finally started to be able to move, but is currently just blinking and smiling.
Overall, this story is amazing. Even though it is going to be extremely hard for a teen to process all of the crazy things that have happened this year, he will hopefully have an amazing recovery, and he is already starting to become more aware of his surroundings.
