The Library
One of my favorite places in Boca is the library across the road from the school. I don't go there often, but when I do I always have fun (yes...fun!). I love walking around the bookshelves and exploring my interests, and the peace and quiet inside is so peaceful.
Last week Friday I went to the library to get a book about Arduino, which is a tool in electronics/engineering that I wanted to learn how to use. Of course, the library had a book for me. I was able to find a quiet place to read, and I quickly got started because I was so eager to learn how to use Arduino.
A few months ago I picked out a simple book about algorithms, which got me interested in computer science. I tried to learn a programming language called Python because I thought it might interest me. After finishing a YouTube tutorial on Python, I started learning another programming language called C, and now I am taking computer science in school.
Now I am interested in studying computer science or engineering in college, so it's amazing to see how big of an impact a small trip to the library had on me. If I hadn't picked out that book about algorithms from the library, my life and hobbies would probably be very different.
I would recommend that you try out the library and see if you can find something you like. There is always something new to learn or an idea that can be taken away from a book.
Can you relate to the tranquility of a library? What do you like/dislike about the library?
Hi Yair, personally I hate reading (i have no patience for that), but I have always loved the library. I used to go almost every weekend. I get very anxious, and I think the library is a great place to calm down and get in tune with your thoughts. Also that is so cool that you are learning all these new things about Computer science just by stumbling upon one book.
ReplyDeleteShalom Yair, now I understand why you asked me about the Arduino board last Friday, so you should definitely check out Tinkercad for Arduino simulations if you don't have the physical board. I used to go to the library to study for final exams, and I would go once in awhile if I wanted to learn something new. I like the library because its very calm and quiet but sometimes its just too quiet, so I'll just go next week because you have inspired me too.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up Yair, I personally love the energy of libraries! As a child, when I lived in New York, my mom used to take my sister and I to the library all the time. If I go to the library to find the book, I'd look for a good mystery. I've also been tutored at a library, and it is so easy to stay focused and concentrated. I'd recommend the Spanish River library (it has a nice view and nature walk)
ReplyDeleteHi, Yair. I'm not a huge fan of libraries because they are too quiet and I have trouble focusing like that. That is so cool that you started liking coding/computer science from a book.
